    Job Description
    Director – Pharmacy
    We are seeking a Director in our Pharmacy department to:
    • Provide direction and leadership to the pharmacy staff
    • Provide state-of-the-art, cost-effective pharmacy services throughout the hospital
    • Be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy
    • Assure adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as achievement of current standards of pharmacy practice and organization expectations
    Education:
    • PharmD degree preferred
    • Other equivalent combinations of experience and education will be considered.
    Experience:
    • 5-8 years of experience as a pharmacist required
    • 2-5 years of experience supervisory management in a hospital/clinic setting preferred.
     
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Knowledge of the information and techniques utilized to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventative health-care measures. 
    • Ability to plan, implement or maintain procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to ensure quality security, and proper disposal.
    • Ability to educate and train staff based upon new evidence based practices.
    • Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo.
    • This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques and disposal methods.
    • Knowledge of pharmacy operations in a hospital setting.
    • Ability to solve a wide range of complex, multi- disciplinary problems which must consider short and intermediate-term Hospital planning.
    • Policy, procedure and precedent are created and/or approved by this position.
    • High degree of analytic ability and inductive thinking is required. 
    • Errors may result in serious consequences involving patient care/treatment. Skills in understanding, explaining, teaching, selecting, developing and motivating people are critical. 
    • Requires extensive theoretical and practical knowledge in several specialized and complex fields or disciplines, and the ability to integrate practical information from such fields or disciplines.
    • Ability to plan and organize and to communicate effectively is essential. 
    • Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, discretion, decision-making, and problem-solving is vital. 
    • Position requires person who has good leadership skills and a commitment to quality of care. 
    • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing change, conflict resolution, and collaboration. Errors may result in serious or fatal patient reaction. 
    • The fact that there is zero tolerance for errors in preparing medications creates more than normal stress on the incumbent. 
    • Decisions consistently impact the functions of multiple departments.
    Schedule:
    • Full time position – 80 hours in a bi-weekly period (1.0 FTE)
    • Primarily Monday through Friday – between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
