Friends of the Lower Wisconsin Riverway is excited to announce the 2nd “State of the Riverway” Symposium, Oct. 12-13, along the banks of the river at Vintage Brewery in Sauk City.
Join us for a fun and educational day of presentations on Friday, Oct. 12, with more than a dozen experts discussing a wide range of issues.
Presentations include:
Preserving and Enjoying the Dark Skies of the LWR by Lynda Schweikert and John Heasley; When the Wisconsin River Flowed Backward by Eric Carson; The LWR: Great Habitats, Great Birds by Mike Mossman, and Secrets of the Paddlefish, The LWR's Most Unusual Fish by John Lyons.
The first day of the event ends with a banquet dinner and dynamic presentation of writer August Derleth by David Schweitzer.
Schweitzer, a Milwaukee resident, has been presenting many of the works of August Derleth for the last 15 years. He has brought to life reflections of one of Wisconsin’s most prolific writers who has more than 150 books to his credit.
Schweitzer has chosen some of Derleth’s best works, namely “Walden West,” “Return to Walden West,” and selections from Derleth’s Journals, including “Wisconsin Country.”
The second day of the symposium, Saturday, Oct. 13, starts at 11 a.m. at the VFW park in Prairie du Sac with a FREE fish biology presentation. Attendees will then choose between three FREE field trips (box lunch optional).
Field trip options include:
