Join us at River Arts on Water for a joint artist talk with David Penner (wood turning, found object sculpture, artisan furniture) and Linda Koenig (watercolors) as they give two unique presentations about their work.
"What Do I Do Now: Art as Problem Solving" by David Penner
When people view a piece of art, they are seeing the instantiation of concepts, materials and technique. What is not often clear is how these three components interact to produce the object under consideration. In this talk, I will explore how I go about creating piece of art.
"Inspiration Sources" by Linda Koenig
Influential to my work are the woodblock designs of Hokusai, the open vistas of the Hudson River Artists and Luminaries, the glowing rectangles of Mark Rothko. Most importantly, my vision is informed by the daily study of the hills, waters and open skies that surround my rural Wisconsin home.
