Oomph pah pah and Gemuetlichkeit come alive when the Dorf Kapelle 16-piece Show Band keeps Oktoberfest alive on Sunday, October 13, at the Dorf Haus Restaurant,Roxbury (near Sauk City). A Bavarian buffet including Kasseler Ripchen, Sauerbraten, Spatzle, Red Cabbage, German Potato Salad and more, will be served at noon with the performance from 1-3 p.m.
The show band, offering a polka step back to Old World Europe, performs in the Bavarian-style banquet room at the Dorf Haus, known for its large wooden dance floor, raised stage, German food and bier.
The Dorf Kapelle perform waltzes, marches and polkas using accordions, trombones, tubas, alphorns and more to provide a huge variety of entertainment. They play music from the famous German Ernst Mosch Band, plus other German, Austrian and Czech composers as well arrangements their own band members have created.
Rebecca Maier-Frey, co-owner of the Dorf Haus, said the Dorf Kapelle, translated “village band” is an all-time annual fall favorite and a quick trip back to Europe for an afternoon at the Dorf Haus.
