Students will build upon their existing knowledge of architecture and digital modeling using SketchUp Make (free) as applied to an individual project. Coursework will encourage students to develop a deeper understanding of the profession and the tools employed in the design process, with the goal of producing a portfolio-worthy project. The camp will explore similar architectural design concepts as previous workshops, with a higher degree of rigor, intrigue, and sophistication. Students in this session will be provided with additional technical guidance and support for future portfolio preparation. Each student will need to bring a laptop with a power cord and mouse with Trimble SketchUp Make (free) installed, a camera or smartphone for photos, and a sketchbook is recommended. Lunch, full estate access with teaching staff and all other materials are included. Prerequisite: prior design experience and familiarity with the software is important for this workshop. To alleviate concern regarding which camp is best for a potential student, please consider sharing demonstrations of your work with the Director of Programs. SketchUp models or photos of drawings may be sent to: chamblen@taliesinpreservation.org
