Title: COVID Testing Coordinator
FTE: 0.80 FTE (32 hours/week), 6 month limited term
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30 am – 4:30 pm the first week.
Holiday Rotation: None
Weekend Rotation: None
POSITION SUMMARY
The COVID Testing Coordinator is responsible for the scheduling and coordination of required COVID-19 testing prior patient procedures. Additional responsibilities include receiving testing requests, coordinating testing schedules, ordering and distributing supplies, maintaining accurate records and reporting results to appropriate parties.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Ensures an order and patient information form are on file prior to scheduling a patient for a COVID test.
- Calls patients to schedule their COVID test prior to their procedure
- Explains self-isolation expectations to the patient
- Communicates special testing requirements to testing personnel (i.e. STAT specimen, Fax results, etc.).
- Records scheduled test into electronic health record (EHR)
- Performs COVID swabbing, as needed
- Prepares specimens to be sent to reference laboratories.
- Assists with procuring specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Process collected specimen for distribution to the appropriate lab personnel for testing.
- Look up patient test results in laboratory information system. Prints, reprints, or faxes results as necessary. Sends test results to Physicians via the appropriate method. File copies of test results, authorization forms and test orders. Processes paperwork with attention to detail, completing tasks with accuracy and precision.
- Releases patient test information only to a physician or clinical staff or as directed on the physician order, in accordance with HIPAA.
- Performs clerical functions such as filing, word processing, answering telephones and faxing results
- Assists with scheduling staff for the COVID swabbing area
- Ensure COVID-19 collection supplies are stocked appropriately. Maintains inventory and orders supplies as needed.
- Maintains billing and coding for laboratory procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
