GI Scrub Technician (Part Time)

POSITION SPECIFICS
Title:  GI Technician
FTE:  Part time (.6 FTE)
Schedule:  Monday from 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Wednesday from 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM, and Thursday from 7:00 AM - 11:00 AM 

POSITION SUMMARY
Prepares for and assists with endoscopic procedures, meeting the high standards of SPH. Prepares procedure room and assures equipment and supplies are available for procedures.  Assists with the materials management coordination for the Operating Rooms.

POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Plan and gather equipment and supplies for all GI procedures.
2. Open all equipment and supplies for procedures.  Sets up procedures.  Readies all instruments, equipment and supplies for the case.
3. Assist with prepping of patients.
4. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, supplies, operating cameras and equipment.
5. Universal precautions are strictly adhered to.
6. Assist with reprocessing and sterilization of all instruments.
7. Assist with cleaning of equipment, surgical suites and storage rooms. 
8. Assist the Reprocessing Tech.
9. Treat all patients equally, with compassion, and without regard to social status, medical condition or race.
10. Adhere to the Surgery Department Code of Ethics as it pertains to other team members.
11. Protect patients' rights.
12. Order supplies as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Required: High School Degree or equivalent. Specialized training beyond high school normally gained in a program of less than 18 months.
• Preferred: None

Experience:

• Required: None
• Preferred: Previous experience as a nursing assistant

Licenses and Registrations:

• Required: Valid certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant
• Preferred: None

Certification(s):

• Required: Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 3 months of hire
• Preferred: None
