    Medical Billing Specialist
    We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist in our Business Services Department to:

    • Be responsible for duties such as claims submission, insurance follow up, posting insurance payments, reconciling and balancing accounts, as well as preparing bank deposits. 
    • This position has direct contact with patients and insurance companies to resolve coverage and/or denial issues. 
    • Responsible for researching and analyzing payments to ensure accuracy and following up with the insurance company regarding any discrepancies. 
    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
    • Completion of Certified Patient Accounts Technician (CPAT) program
    • 1 to 3 years in a similar position preferred.  
    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Requires in-depth knowledge of a specialized/technical function.
    • Sensitivity and patience in dealing with patients who may be confused and are having difficulty in understanding their account is critical.
    • Accuracy is important because errors may result in serious consequences involving data or financial loss to the patient or SPMHC. 
    • Ability to keep sensitive information about patients and others confidential is essential. 
    • Needs to be a good team member and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
    • Ability to solve a variety of billing problems.  May require travel.
    • Full time position consisting of 80 hours in a bi-weekly pay period (1.0 FTE)
      • Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
