Title: Registration Specialist - Rehab
FTE: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday -Thursday from 9:30am – 6:00pm; Fridays from 8:30am - 5:00pm
Holiday Rotation: None
Weekend Rotation: None
On Call Requirements: None
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for registering patients for inpatient or outpatient services. Registration may occur via telephone prior to the patient’s visit or in person in a hospital/clinic setting. Responsible for verifying demographic and insurance information, pre-registration of accounts, and copayment collections.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Greet all patients either in person or by telephone. Verify all patient demographic information, including insurance plans at each patient visit, whether inpatient or outpatient.
- Address and identify patients’ communication needs, contacting an interpreter when necessary.
- Accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into electronic record.
- May collect copays, deductibles and any self-pay balances (cash, checks, credit card payments). Write receipts for all payments collected.
- Complete forms and obtain signatures to accompany inpatients and outpatients, i.e: Medicare secondary payer, Important Message from Medicare, among others.
- Pre-register clinical and surgical patients prior to their appointment date as assigned.
- Work closely with the Business Office on accounts.
- Contact online carriers to determine insurance eligibility.
- Keep current on insurance company specifics.
- May answer phones as a back-up when assigned to hospital departments and communicate messages appropriately.
- Scanning, order supplies, distribute faxes, direct patients and visitors, screen sales people, sign for packages, and monitor maintenance and upkeep of office machinery.

Education:- Required: High school diploma or equivalent in business experience.
