    Title:  Registration Specialist - Rehab
    FTE:  1.0 (40 hours per week)
    Schedule: Monday -Thursday from 9:30am – 6:00pm; Fridays from 8:30am - 5:00pm
    Holiday Rotation:  None
    Weekend Rotation:  None
    On Call Requirements:  None
    Responsible for registering patients for inpatient or outpatient services.  Registration may occur via telephone prior to the patient’s visit or in person in a hospital/clinic setting.  Responsible for verifying demographic and insurance information, pre-registration of accounts, and copayment collections.   

    1. Greet all patients either in person or by telephone.  Verify all patient demographic information, including insurance plans at each patient visit, whether inpatient or outpatient.
    2. Address and identify patients’ communication needs, contacting an interpreter when necessary.
    3. Accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into electronic record.
    4. May collect copays, deductibles and any self-pay balances (cash, checks, credit card payments). Write receipts for all payments collected.
    5. Complete forms and obtain signatures to accompany inpatients and outpatients, i.e:  Medicare secondary payer, Important Message from Medicare, among others.
    6. Pre-register clinical and surgical patients prior to their appointment date as assigned.
    7. Work closely with the Business Office on accounts. 
    8. Contact online carriers to determine insurance eligibility.
    9. Keep current on insurance company specifics. 
    10. May answer phones as a back-up when assigned to hospital departments and communicate messages appropriately.
    11. Scanning, order supplies, distribute faxes, direct patients and visitors, screen sales people, sign for packages, and monitor maintenance and upkeep of office machinery.
