POSITION SPECIFICS
Title: Rehabilitation Aide
FTE: Per Diem (No set schedule – works as needed)
Schedule: Hours are primarily 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Holiday Rotation: N/A
Weekend Rotation: Looking for availability to work 1-2 weekends per month
POSITION SUMMARY
The Rehabilitation Aide assists physical therapists and occupational therapists in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients. Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the department and performs some clerical duties.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist therapists with application of modalities such as hot packs, whirlpool, cold packs and ultrasound or others as directed and under therapist’s direct supervision.
- Assure adequate supplies of linen, gowns, shorts, and measurement tools in all treatment and exam rooms.
- Transport inpatient to and from their rooms. Use communication tool to update nursing on location of patients.
- Maintain treatment/exam rooms in a safe and efficient environment. Remove soiled linen and prepare room with clean linen.
- Assure the patients are comfortable and questions or concerns are answered professionally or referred to therapist.
- Safely operate equipment such as ultrasound, CPM, computer, photocopier, fax, typewriter, exercise bikes, phone systems, parallel bars, wheelchairs and whirlpools. Clean and perform all preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Assist therapists with exercises, gait activities, transfers and wound care as supervises and instructed by therapist. Take weight, height, pulse and blood pressures of patients as necessary.
- Provide recommendation to Purchasing for supplies.
- Schedule inpatients for therapy. Communicate inpatient therapy times with therapists and nursing.
- Copy, fax, and/or relay patient notes, messages and physician orders to appropriate persons.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or director.
- Attend all mandatory Hospital in-services.

Education
- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

- Preferred: 3 to 6 months’ prior experience in similar setting
Licenses and Registrations

Certification(s):
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire
- Preferred: None
