• 2nd Shift Machine Shop Supervisor

    Summary: Under the direction of the Machine Shop Superintendent, the Machine Shop Supervisor is responsible for directing employees in their daily work requirements, assessing work load and demands, organizes and assigns work load to meet demands, ensures that production schedules are met, assists employees in improving their performance, knowledge and skills, helps ensure the quality of product and that equipment is properly maintained. A strong machining back ground is preferred.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following.

    • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
    • Accomplishes staffs job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; conducting training; implementing enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards; adhering to legal regulations.
    • Will be responsible for developing schedules; assigning and monitoring work; gathering resources; maintaining productivity standards; resolving operations problems; maintaining reference manuals; implementing new procedures.
    • Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
    • Makes recommendations for: tooling, fixtures, equipment and improvement of processes.
    • Maintains own professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.

    Education and/or Experience: Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as rates, percentages, area, circumference, and angles. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems as they occur.

    Computer Skills: Must possess ability to work with a typical pc and programs.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is can be loud. Hearing protection, safety shoes and safety glass are required to be worn.
