• Open Gym Supervisor

    $14/hour            Wednesdays 7-9pm and Sundays 1-3pm

    This position will lead basketball open gym. Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator this position will supervise the open gym programs on Wednesday and Sundays.
    Responsibilities revolve around maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all participants. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Any one position may not include all the duties listed, nor do the examples listed include all the duties that may be found in this position.  

    1. Maintain weekly gym hours as scheduled, approximately 4 hours per week. Exact days and times to be determined in line with programs and events on a monthly basis. 
    2. Responsible for the daily on-site oversight including program set-up and tear down of the facility. 
    3. Maintain accurate open gym attendance records. 
    4. Supervises facility and participants by enforcing program and building rules, regulations, and procedures. Ensures facility is left secure and all equipment is picked up at the end of open gym.
    5. Must be able to work in a team environment and have frequent contact with Recreation staff and building staff. 
    6. Must be able to address and diffuse potential user conflicts.
    7. Weekday and weekend hours required.
     

    REQUIREMENTS OF WORK (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

    1. Ability to deal professionally and tactfully with customers and other staff members.
    2. Good communication skills, both oral and written.
    3. Ability to enforce policies and procedures.
    4. Ability to accept and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
    5. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and establish effective working relationships with associates, volunteers, staff and public; calmly approach and solve problems under stressful circumstances; maintain and promote harmony in the workplace; concentrate for extended periods of time; and be flexible.
     

    TRAINING, EXPERIENCE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    1. High School diploma or equivalent required; must be 16 or older.
    2. Excellent customer service skills; previous cash handling and customer service skills required.
    3. ?Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Standing and/or walking up to eight (8) hours per day.
    2. Frequent bending and stooping.
    3. Ability to lift various weights up to fifty (50) pounds.
    4. Ability to perform overhead work.
