The Sauk Prairie Area Chamber of Commerce held its 66th Annual Dinner and Awards Banquet on Monday, June 13th at the Dorf Haus Supper Club. The event was a Kentucky Derby theme, where attendees wore their best derby hats and bow ties. President Jama Graves opened the meeting, announcing that the state of the Sauk Prairie Riverway was strong and the business community and chamber were off to the races!  The program included highlights of the chamber’s work, which included the adoption of core values, self-ID options, and website accessibility. Past-President Zach Dahl spoke about the incredible odds (80 – 1) “Rich Strike”, this year’s Kentucky Derby winner faced, and used those odds to describe running a business in today’s world. Dahl shared, “never listen to the well-meaning who tell you you can’t, the story of Rich Strike is your story, all it takes is determination, and someone to believe in you”. The Dream Big Award was given to Amanda Haselwander, owner/operator of C2Juicery & Eats, the Glassdoor Award was given to 6:8 Inc., the Corporate Steward of the Year award was given to Maplewood of Sauk Prairie, and the Leadership Excellence Award was given to Tracy Thompson, RE/MAX Grand. Throughout the event, there were derby lawn games, scratch and win wagers, Mint Julep’s, and a Kentucky Derby race by area businesses. As with each derby, there could only be one winner, and the Grand Champion of the Sauk Prairie Area Derby was Pam Wipperfurth with Monona Bank Sauk Prairie.
