Annual Celebration of the Equinox
On Wednesday, March 20 the Spring Equinox will officially arrive in the northern hemisphere. Sunday, March 24 is when the celebration will begin with the tradition of burning the socks. This annual celebration of the Equinox has become a tradition for many local folks in the Sauk Prairie area. Throughout history it has been a time of renewal and reawakening as spring brings us out of the dark winter months and this winter is no different than the past. Two local groups whose focus is on the the health and sustainability of the WI River: Ferry Bluff Eagle Council "to protect, maintain and enhance Bald Eagle Habitat in the Sauk Prairie area" and the Sauk Prairie River PAL "To preserve, protect, and restore the Wisconsin River watershed" would like to invite all river enthusiasts to their fourth annual joint fundraiser. This year they are featuring local favorite Jim Schwall a nd Friends for music along with food and craft beer with a Cajun flair. Enjoy po'boy sandwiches made with Loci Sausage meat, or pork from Willow Creek Farms set on bread from Weber's Bakery. Brews from Lake Louie, Vintage Brewing Company, and Port Huron Brewing will be available for purchase. Bring your old smell, holey socks, toss them on the bonfire outside to the music of the Wrannock Celtic Trio, or stay inside and dance with the music of Jim Schwall and Friends and please enjoy a brew, local food and good time with friends.
