How Charismatic Cranes Inspire Peace and Conservation

Cranes are depicted everywhere. They appear on ancient pieces of art, are featured in many cultural folktales and are the inspiration for the origami crane a symbol of universal peace. Although they are prominent in art, many of their populations in the wild are declining. Of the 15 species of cranes in the world 11 are threatened with endangerment.

Join a naturalist from the International Crane Foundation at the Ruth Culver Community Library Wednesday, May 29 at 6:30 p.m. and learn how these majestic animals are symbols peace and inspire communities to work together to encourage ecosystem health. The naturalist will talk about the roll the International Crane Foundation plays in bringing together partners from around the world to better the areas where cranes and humans inhabit.  Thank you to the Friends of the Ruth Culver Community Library for sponsoring this event.
