For those of you who have paddled with us on our annual trip down the Wisconsin, you know that it is much more then a great way to escape from the daily routine. It's also a way to learn a little something about the history of the area and why Wisconsin River such a treasure.
We have an exciting lineup of speakers for this year's event. Curt Meine, conservation biologist, historian and writer, will talk about Ferry Bluff and the origins of the state natural areas programs, land restoration and protection. Fred Madison, professor emeritus, UW-Madison, will talk about the geology of the Wisconsin River Valley in the unglaciated, Driftless Area of the State. And Mark Cupp, director of the Lower Wisconsin State Riverway board, will give a history of the native influences on the area.
All this and a day on the beautiful Wisconsin River. Priceless.
