Volunteer Clerical Staff
Clerical Staff is the front-line ambassadors who set the tone for customer service through clinic telephone support (answering and transferring calls), patient scheduling (via an excel spreadsheet and reminder calls), and active problem solving with nursing and provider staff. Medical Assistants bring previous work experience to support the clinic visit. Medical Assistants collect patient data on admission and duties include, but are not limited to Covid screening, a brief history statement, vital signs, medical procedure support (laboratory specimen collection, order documentation, radiology and laboratory result follow-up) clinic flow, and environmental cleaning post patient visit. The clinic days are Monday and Wednesday (closed for holidays) and run from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00

Prescription Assistance Nurse: Works with patients on an individual basis to obtain meds through a drug company program, a participating local pharmacy, or other resources. Dispenses medications to patients as ordered by the provider. Provides patient instruction on medication use or storage and any needed monitoring. Follows up with patients and drug companies to assure a consistent supply to patients. Consult with providers or medical directors as situations arise. An active WI Registered Nurse license

Primary Care Nurses utilize the nursing process for triage and admission assessment of the patient’s biophysical, and psychosocial aspects of care (medical history and medication review, primary complaint, and social determinants). Nurses support patient care coordination for simple and complex medical conditions through patient education, provider collaboration, and community referral services, laboratory and radiology result monitoring. The clinic has access to laboratory, radiology, and specialty care services for youth, adult, and geriatric populations. Patient pharmacy needs are supported by staff in our Prescriptive Assistant Program which has access to local pharmacies. Social Worker: Individuals should have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a licensed social worker or licensed clinical social worker. Duties include: greeting new patients and assisting them in completing their medical history, helping patients determine if qualify for medical insurance or other community resources such as food stamps, housing, disability, providing counseling support to patients, and assisting patients with medical POA and Living Will documents.

Spanish Interpreters provide fluid Spanish and English translation to the clinic’s non-English Spanish-speaking patients by supporting patient scheduling, education, and the clinical visit. Together with the nursing and provider staff, they support translation to assist with the primary care visit, medical procedures, post clinic follow-up, and patient care communication. The schedule for volunteer frequency is negotiated with the Clinic Manager and Clinic Director based on clinic demand.
