Title: Pharmacy Technician
FTE: 1.0 (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday - Friday between the hours of 6:30am and 5:30pm
Holiday Rotation: Per unit requirements
Weekend Rotation: Once per month, Saturday and Sunday from 6:30am - 3:00pm
On Call Requirements: None
POSITION SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Director, assist with the day-to-day operation of the Pharmacy Department.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform unit dose drug packaging and distribution throughout the hospital, including the preparation of daily patient drug supply and performing labeling function accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare intravenous admixtures and compounding, including maintaining sterile technique at all times and accurately performs pharmacy math calculations.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date narcotic record keeping.
- Responsible for daily checking of the pharmacy medication refrigerator/freezer temperature.
- Fill and restock Omnicell cabinets.
- Fill medication drawers, keep them updated, and exchange them once daily (M-F, excluding weekends and holidays).
- Fill and exchange anesthesia drug trays.
- Responsible for the review, reconciliation, and resolution of Pharmacy billing issues, including Omnicell and Surgery.
- Sort medications and return them to shelves (when appropriate) after a patient is discharged.
- Fill and distribute drugs to other departments and clinics based on completed pharmacy request or drug requisition order form.
- Manage Pharmacy inventory, including maintaining adequate stock level and stickering, scanning, and putting away drugs on the shelves when they arrive.
- Check all medications in assigned area(s) for outdates and for regulatory compliance gaps.
- Assist in data collection for QI or outcome studies.
- Clean shelves and drawers as needed.
- Attend Pharmacy staff meetings and other meetings as assigned by the Pharmacy Director.
- Perform other assigned duties as determined by the Pharmacists and Pharmacy Director.
Education:- Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

- Preferred: 1-year experience in a hospital pharmacy
- Required: Pharmacy Technician registration with the WI Dept of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS)
