  • Searching for Volunteers!!

Good Neighbor Clinic (GNC) can use your help. As many of you know GNC was started over 20 years ago by a dedicated group of volunteers under the guidance of Dr Haaken Carlson. He was inspired by his wife to offer care to the uninsured folks in his own community.

Since then we have grown to care for over 2500 patients per year. We are a volunteer run family medicine clinic serving local patients who are uninsured or vastly under-insured.

Some of the services we offer are preventive care, including well women exams, acute care for some illnesses, diabetes care and education as well as treating those with chronic disease. We offer counseling for mental illness and have a volunteer psychiatrist on staff. Sauk Prairie Healthcare is extremely generous, donating lab and xray, and renting us clinic space at very little cost to us.

We have a prescription assistance program that allows us to offer prescriptions to patients free of cost or for $1.

Here's where you can help. We are busier than ever, necessitating more hands on deck. We can use volunteers with medical training and those without. We need nurses, medical assistants, EMT's, CNA's MD's, PA's, and NP's, therapists and social workers. We can use IT support, office support, social work, and support for those struggling with substance use. If you speak Spanish we would love to use your skills.

We are open every Monday and Wednesday afternoon. Volunteers can work one shift per month or every day that we are open, depending on their time and availability. We are flexible and work with your schedule. If you are in the area over the summer and winter elsewhere we will happily include you when you are available.
