    Title: Supervisor – Primary Care (Lodi Clinic and Wisconsin Heights Clinic)
    FTE: 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)
    Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm
    Holiday Rotation: None
    Weekend Rotation: None
    On Call Requirements: None
      
    POSITION SUMMARY
    The Primary Care Supervisor is a registered nurse who has responsibility for the supervision of clinical staff in Primary Care Clinics. This individual helps ensure delivery of high-quality services, manages resources and people, quality and performance improvement and serves as a role-model for SPH’s values and mission.  In addition, this individual functions as the clinical liaison between the Primary Care and hospital based clinical departments, such as Imaging, Lab and Infection Control.  The Supervisor will provide direct patient care as needed and maintains an expert knowledge base for nursing practice.  This position consults with providers and staff to monitor clinical practice, works with providers and staff to effect change, and performs customer service.  The position is also responsible for oversight of general administrative duties such as payroll, performance evaluations, recruitment and scheduling. The supervisor position serves as back up to the Primary Care Operations Manager.
     
    POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
     
    Clinical Practice and Service Delivery:

    1. Serves as a role model, demonstrating effective patient care, leadership and professional behavior.
    2. Coordinates and supervises day-to-day clinical activities to ensure efficient and effective delivery of patient care.
    3. Collaborates with other clinic and organizational leadership in the development of standards of care and practice, policies and procedures, and assures the integration and implementation of such into day-to-day work processes. 
    4. Serves as a resource to clinical staff; ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory standards and incorporating research findings into practice.
    5. Fulfills staff nurse duties, performing patient care, as needed, as referenced in the clinic nurse job description.
    6. Reinforces optimal service delivery based on SPH’s mission and assessed needs of the department.
    7. Reinforces SPH service excellence standards in the daily work of the department staff.
    8. Coordinates and collaborates with providers, other leaders and clinical staff.
    Resource Management:
    1. Works with the Manager to develop capital and operating budgets.
    2. Identifies and participates in the resolution of recurring operational deficiencies, focuses on improving workflow and eliminating waste both within the clinic and between clinic and hospital departments.
    3. Ensures optimal use of supplies, space, and equipment through observation and education.
    4. Monitors fiscal reports in collaboration with the Director and Manager.
    People Management:
    1. Provides day-to-day supervision of clinical and clinic ancillary staff, overseeing work flow and ensuring throughput.
    2. Performs payroll functions.
    3. Participates in the recruiting and hiring of clinical staff and facilitates new employee onboarding and orientation.
    4. Evaluates employee performance as assigned and ensures competency.
    5. Works with the Manager and/or Director to provide coaching, counseling, development, and recognition to clinical staff.
    6. Manages and improves staff engagement.
    7. Responsible for ensuring clinical staff compliance with all SPH-required activities.
    8. Manages staffing, scheduling, and daily work flow ensuring optimal patient and provider experience and resource management.
    9. Promotes and facilitates the development of interdisciplinary relationships with other members of the care team.
    Quality, Safety, and Performance Improvement:
    1. Engages in quality and safety rounding to ensure CMS and other regulatory standards are met.
    2. Assists Manager with patient experience, staff engagement and service excellence initiatives
    3. Identifies and successfully addresses opportunities for improving clinic operations, monitoring outcomes and providing feedback when needed.
    4. Identifies and reacts to patient safety concerns and evaluates the impact of related responses.
    5. Addresses patient safety event reports and analyzes strategies for appropriate follow-up.
    6. Participates in developing and implementing organizational strategies to improve patient transitions of care
    7. Works collaboratively with interdepartmental groups such as the quality department and infection control to perform process improvement initiatives and ensure safety and quality checks and audits are in place.
    8. Reviews and updates policies and procedures as requested by the Director or Manager.
    Education and Community Outreach
    1. Participates in applicable professional organizations.
    2. Participates in community outreach and safety events.
    POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    Education:
    • Required:  Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
    • Preferred:  Master’s degree
    Experience:
    • Required:  3-5 years of clinical experience
    • Preferred:  Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience. Previous experience in a clinic setting.
    Licenses and Registrations:
    • Required:  Current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of Wisconsin
    • Preferred:  None
    Certification(s):
    • Required:  Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of appointment. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of appointment.
    • Preferred: None.
